List folk:
The next phase of our WO project has so far successfully moved to
XCode 2.1 and WO 5.3. We have even had success doing test deployments
of it. I've been able to use WOBuilder 5.3 for what little changes
I've made there, and most of my work has been in changes from within
XCode, including new file inclusion, target changes, etc.
So far, the one thing that I did have to do is manually change the
project name in the pbproj file within xcodebuild. I couldn't
otherwise find out how to do that in Xcode 2.x.
That said, I've purposely delayed most major WOBuilder-type changes
until later, in the hopes that a new update of 5.3 comes to address
some of the usability concerns mentioned on the list. Why learn the
new way twice?
Second, I've been very careful to never load the eomodel from within
xcode, as an errant "save" when exiting the not-so-useful
eomodel.plugin seems to seriously bork it.
I can also confirm that EOM 5.3 really can't generate the class files,
failing with a template creation error. EOGenerator may be the way to
go.. but again, I can delay anything major for now, as it usually best
to do things by hand when you already have a working project.
So, in summary, its workable in taking a working project forward to
5.3, but it might be worth the wait for an update if you are trying to
build out a new model or interace and you don't want to do so by hand
our external to the Apple tools.
