OK, I'm stumped :-) Time to up the logging. Try running with max logging turned on:
-DNSDebugLevel=NSLog.DebugLevelDetailed -DNSDebugGroups="(1:50)"


Post relevant extracts from the console output that those params give.

Also, you mentioned you were able to connect via the command line, was that on the server?
