I have never used Objective C, but with java WO we get the ability to
plug in any and all useful java open source libraries out there such as
any of the many apache jakarta projects, log4j, junit, java mail, axis,
jdbc drivers for many DBs, etc. Would that free open-ness be lost of WO
switched back to Objective C?

For me Apple saying that "WO is for MOSX only" just means there is
absolutely no point of keeping Java as a main language.
Objective-C proved many time its superiority over Java and as a
default
language for Cocoa applications it makes clear that WO should be using
Objective-C *again* (with or without Java, after all the bridge is
still
there and rock solid).
Here, here!!!
