Yeah, 10.4 supposedly changed the preferred way to launch stuff at
startup... Known WO, they probably never updated the script though. :-)
Does anyone have a 10.4/5.2.4 machine handy to see how wotaskd gets
started?

No wotaskd running since the upgrade.
I checked ps output last night and didn't see it but couldn't
remember if it should be running.
OK, that is the problem then.
5.3 installs it... Maybe it just forgets to start it?
How does wotaskd usually get started on a OS X client/dev machine?
I'm not sure now on 10.4. It used to get started by the startups
scripts, probably launchd now. You can also just start it from the
command line - it's just another WOApp.

try doing
sudo touch /tmp/logWebObjects
and seeing what is in /tmp/WebObjects.log. It sounds as if the
site config is not getting updated when the app launches. Also
verify that wotaskd is running on that machine. What you are
describing will happen if wotaskd is not running.
Paris:~ chuck$ ps auxwww | grep wotaskd
root 233 0.0 0.0 18644 120 ?? S 10:27AM
0:00.01 sh /System/Library/WebObjects/JavaApplications/
wotaskd.woa/Contents/Resources/javawoservice.sh -appPath /System/
Library/WebObjects/JavaApplications/wotaskd.woa/wotaskd
(note that this is from a 10.3 / 5.2.3 machine)

I just totally removed WO and reinstalled 5.3 to make sure it
wasn't my config.
Something is certainly up with '-WODirectConnectEnabled false'
in 5.3.
If *anyone* has any info, this would be great.

Is anyone having trouble connecting to there apps via the -
WODirectConnectEnabled false method? Every time I get a message
in Safari saying that it couldn't find an instance. If I delete
the property it works fine as it is going to http://localhost:

Does anyone have any ideas?
