Hi again,

XCode just feels like it does everything in the most complicated way

It would especially feel that way when you're just figuring out WO,
expecting Xcode to act like a set-up wizard.
I guess it seems to me that if I want to add a WO component
to my project, XCode should be smart enough to know that it only makes
sense to add it to the Application target, rather than defaulting it
to the wrong target.
Yep, would be a good feature request. If it's any consolation, it'll
default to your previous selection the next time ;-)
There should be some place where I can say "add
this jar to my project" and it should handle it for me.
It's not completely absent. e.g., control-click on the project file
(top of tree within Xcode) and choose, for example, Add existing
Framework... or "Add Existing File..." (and so on). As to where these
end up in the project tree - that's somewhat taken care of. i.e.,
depending on whether they're source files, frameworks etc
But as to which target these are assigned to - that's pure choice.
The legacy here is probably based upon the idea that targets are like
templates - a starting point. Thus it's possible for you to create
child targets or independent targets - and as such will want the
"choice" as to which target/s the newly created component are assigned.
It feels like
it doesn't do the simple stuff that I've come to expect from a modern
IDE. Just frustrating, you know?
Time/understanding of what's involved in developing for WO will help
you overcome Xcode shortcomings... ;-)
with regards,
