OpenBase - JDBC bug???

Hi list...

A while ago I posted a problem my ec having values but OpenBase not what caused an optimistic locking failure... The strange thing was that on ec.saveChanges() there was no problem, the object passed validation for a not-null field, but the field was empty in the database. Well, turns out that either OpenBase or the JDBC does not accept 8 character long string where first four characters are same as the last four. I tested it for a field declared as "text" in both OpenBase and EOModeler.

It was a pain trying to debug THAT one because for testing i normally use gibberish values (weraef, awefa d, wert esd )etc, and only got the error when i accidentally made a string as described above... ***pain***

My system is:
OS X 10.3.8
WebObjects 5.2.3
OpenBase - whatever version is the latest

Test setup - "text" field translated to String , no value type set....

Please inform me of results if anybody else tests it...

I am new to this, but I tested and tested and tested and am *pretty* sure that this is really the case.

Cheers
F
