Just to make sure, you're just timing the SQL, right? 'Cause in EOF
you do normally have object creation overhead...
That is, you go to the equivalent of SQLPLUS and type in what EOF
generates and what you want.

I tested more and more and also it IS definitely faster than before,
it's
not nearly as fast as an explicit join. It's currently about 5 times
faster
than before (700ms) but the explicit join takes only about 30ms. This
is 20
(!!) times faster.
I think this should go now to the Frontbase list ...
