MySQL Handshake error with EOModeler

I have a new OS X Server installation which has MySQL 4.1. I've been unable to connect EOModeler to any databases. EOModeler gives a "handshake error". Could this be related to the new password format in MySQL? If so, how would I go about getting EOModeler to work with it? If not, what else could it be? My model connects fine to other (older) MySQL installations.
