Hi,

Welcome!

It is a good choice.

and was wondering if there are any frameworks or other open source
resources available for implementing things such as a shopping cart,
catalog of items to sell, DB schemas for user accounts, product
inventory, sale transactions etc?

Um, not really. I'm not entirely sure why. Perhaps because these are fairly easy to make in WO and everyone seems to have a little different requirements. Two places to look for reusable code are:

http://www.wocode.com
http://wonder.sourceforge.net/

There is at least PayPal integration in Project Wonder and I recall some postings about other integration.

A coworker suggested zencart from zencart.com but it is PHP based.

Also, does anyone have any webhosts they would recommend that supports
WebObjects?

The company that I work for, Global Village Consulting, does hosting as do many others on this list. I've also had good experiences with http://www.maccius.com for one client of ours.

Chuck
