I came across a neat technology that might make the graphical interface
easier to implement. http://www.graphviz.org/ is an opensource package that
generates and reads DOT files that appear to describe the connection between
things. I think basically the program is responsible for figuring out which
things to connect and recording the connection info and the graphviz package
makes the pretty pictures.
