Title: Re: EO using Pervasive    PSQL    v9 (secon d and last posting)
The JDBC driver was more specifically my question to begin with.  I have an app that is hitting a MS-SQL-Server dbase ever 25 seconds and never skips a beat.  Like you said, the driver is the make/break component in this model.  Unfortunately this means building a prototype to test in-house, learning to admin their PSQL, all to perform a viability test before solidly committing to a quote.  The good news – we live for this kind of fun, don’t we?

I liked your other feedback about WO use and its apparent solid future.  Selling a non-Microsoft based solution is still extremely hard.  I’ve resorted to explaining it as a Unix served Java server application and showing solid Sun Microsystems white-papers to establish credibility.  My buddies at Apple have yet to release a case study or comparison of .NET vs. WO.  If anyone has one please feel free to share.

Pardon the editorializing, best to all,

-Bill

The primary thing would be to find out how stable their JDBC driver is.  If that is robust, you are 90% of the way there.

If you need to access specific Pervasive functionality, you might need to write an adaptor.

Thanks Karl.  I’m a bit leery only because nobody seems to have much experience with this particular db from this group (which I consider highly experienced).

I’ll post my findings if I get this contract.  Thanks again,

I haven't used Pervasive with WO but I cannot see any reason why it won't work using the generic adaptor.  Pervasive has a Type 4 JDBC driver which should be all the WO needs to work.

Has anyone tied WO to a Pervasive PSQL database?

I’m reviewing a product from Sage “Business Works” and hoping to create a web-app that interfaces with their underlying data; Pervasive.

  Any feedback is helpful.   Thanks!
