I am seeing this ugly symptom as well. Create a new WO Component,
all is well, all saves properly. The following appears on the console:
2005-09-14 16:43:05.380 WebObjects Builder[3392]
Notice: the old non-smooth scrolling browser will not be supported in
the next release.
Save again: Now only the .api file survives, the .wo package has
been annihilated, but the backup is preserved. The following appears
on the console:
2005-09-14 16:47:04.569 WebObjects Builder[3392]
NSString: Unknown encoding 'Western (ISO Latin 1)'.
Save again: The .api is the sole survivor. No .wo, no backup
files. The following warning dialog message appears:
Unable to create backup file for
/Users/kcarlin/Desktop/Test.wo: Error removing
Try a Save As to a new name to rescue the situation: Nothing is
saved. No dialog appears. The following appears on the console:
2005-09-14 16:57:26.366 WebObjects Builder[3392]
Exception raised during posting of notification. Ignored. exception:
NSString: Unknown encoding 'Western (ISO Latin 1)'.
This is running from a clean install of 5.3 on a brand new Tiger
10.4.2 box. It only started doing this after I started prepping for
UTF support, but changing things back does not make it stop.

Is that right? Does the current WOBuilder report itself (both in-app and in
Finder) as 5.2?
Possibly related: I'm seeing this @#$% problem where, when I try to save a
file then quit (WOBuilder), it erases the original. Uh... "this slows WO
development, somewhat" ;)
