I wanted to publicly applaud Apple for having such a wonderful development framework like WO; in particular D2JC. I have just finished a medium sized intranet project for a client of mine, and I can't believe how much easier and faster this framework made it. There is definitely a learning curve and a sad lack of documentation but things can be figured out from the java doc's with some effort. This is such a natural way to build 3 tier java client applications - so cool.

No doubt. I feel the same way. D2JC is really cool stuff. It allows you to focus on the data/services of the application. A little XML editing here and there, a few custom classes, and you've got a nice interface on top of EO. On top of all this, WebObjects Deployment now comes free with OSX Server. And the dev tools are a click away.

There are some quirks and lack of documentation. If D2JC was promoted more, I think it would bring the entire WO environment up. Particularly because *everybody* needs data browsing applications these days. Along those lines, Apple should also increase their promotion of WebObjects as an LDAP interface.

With just a little more promotion...
