Thank you - it worked perfectly. I can deploy from command line, but xcode doesn't seem to want to deploy. I get in build log:

SymLink /Users/mark/Dev/bibliography/build/Deployment/ _WOServerbibliography2.tmp

Mkdir /Users/mark/Dev/bibliography/build/Deployment/ _WOServerbibliography2.tmp
/bin/mkdir -p /Users/mark/Dev/bibliography/build/Deployment/ _WOServerbibliography2.tmp
mkdir: /Users/mark/Dev/bibliography/build/Deployment/ _WOServerbibliography2.tmp: Too many levels of symbolic links
...failed Mkdir /Users/mark/Dev/bibliography/build/Deployment/ _WOServerbibliography2.tmp ...

which, quite frankly, I don't understand. I can cope without it working though!

Finally, does anyone know the roadmap for WebObjects (well EOF to be precise)?

If anyone does, they are not telling. :-) Apple keeps it future plans very secret.

What follows is my opinion / best guess. Steve Jobs doesn't tell me either.

Very interesting. I was surprised to hear about Core data - I presumed the technologies of EOF and core data would converge! IMHO, developing models that can only be run in one kind of application is very inefficient. After all, the process of modelling is so similar, the tools should spit out output that either works in both worlds or changes the output depending on the target. To have to switch technologies and tools seems pretty backwards. My interest is in specific, small, highly targeted vertical applications. I'd like to be able to develop data models and the logic behind them and not only change the datastore (JDBC, XML, SQLite) but change the "VIew" and "Controller" bits to suit the specific application - desktop OR server.
