Hi, Larry,

First, thanks for drawing my attention to the Elements and Components window in WOBuilder. I had neither used it nor even seen it before. Very helpful.

I was looking at the "Elements and Components" window in WOBuilder and noticed that at the top it says "Favorites" and I was wondering if anyone was able to add their own custom classes to the list?

If you hold your pointer over the Favorites list heading, a tool tip is displayed that says:

"Drag elements here to add to favorites. Select an element and press 'delete' to remove from favorites."

I tried this and it works if you drag any other element from the Elements and Components window to the Favorites list. I also tried dragging elements from the Layout View window and from the Palettes. Neither of those work which, though it makes sense (insofar as the Favorites list will only hold the type of element that the other lists in the Elements and Components window hold), I felt that it was a bit unfortunate, since I would often like to keep both Palette items and Custom components in the Favorites list.

I know you can just Custom and enter the name etc but it would be nice to specify them there.

Yes, that was the reason for my last comment above. I would love to put custom components in the Favorites list. However, it seems that the contents of the Favorites list is a little like WOBuilder preferences, insofar as once an element is added there, the addition persists between closing/reopening WOBuilder and across projects. Custom components in the list should probably not persist across projects

It would be nice if the list split into global Favorites and project Favorites. But that's the problem with creating tools for developers, we're just never satisfied. :-)

I also wonder if it is possible to get them into the Dynamic and Static lists in the top bar of the window as well.

To my knowledge, there is no way to customize the WOBuilder Tool Bar at the top of the window. That would also be a feature I would like to see, along the lines of Xcode's and Mail's toolbars.

Any pointers most appreciated.

Perhaps the most effective pointer I can offer is to add your requests to the Apple bug list. I will. More requests there take a higher priority in getting them implemented, and it's clear that Apple is currently interested in upgrading the development tools (if only for the Mac OS X development platform).

Regards,
Jerry
