Our project is a Java Client application (double clickable), and I found that the 1.5 update caused it to fail on build with an error "jam failed with exit code 1". Switching the symbolic link to 1.4.2 fixed the problem for me.

The Java update is probably not the problem. We have tested Direct to Java Client and Java Client with the Java 1.5.0 update.

There is an ephemeral, yet to me very frustrating, problem where a project will just say "jam failed" for no apparent reason. This has been looked at.

The problem only appears when things are being updated, "things" being Xcode versions, Java version, OS versions, perhaps phases of the moon....

The solution always seems to be to clear the project information. It would be nice if a 'Clean All' did this but it seems that one must also remove the intermediates directory and make sure that indexes are deleted.

I have never seen this bug re-occur when I have done this. If there is a case of it occurring in the wild, even after a thorough cleaning of the project state, please let me know how I can get that reproduced.

One might observe that there is a class of bugs in Xcode where, if the project state gets "complicated" in certain ways, Xcode start behaving "oddly". It is difficult to get people to sign up to fix this sort of problem. There are always other problems that are easier to characterize> These need to be fixed also. Xcode is, in terms of its bugs, a fairly target-rich environment. A reproducible case of this would help.

If this fixes your problem, please share that with the list.

thanx - ray

At a guess I would say no. I have been talking with Openbase about a different issue and they mentioned that if I was running under Java 1.5 then I would need there new JDBC driver that they are working on.

Hmm, it would be interesting to know if someone else has this problem. The DB / JDBC was OpenBase 9.1.5.

I did, using Java 1.5.0 and OpenBase 9.1.5.

I did the update to Java 1.5.0 this morning with Software Updater and got a nearly identical problem.

Is the OpenBase JDBC driver being used Java 1.5-compliant?
