I would recommend looking at the DependentListsExample that comes with Wonder's AjaxExample project ... It will give you a bit of a jumpstart on this.

Also, the start of Ajax framework documentation can be found on the wikibook at:

It hasn't kept up with the recent additions, but it's a start.
