Yes, but theoretically, Apple could support and develop WebObjects
(the Java code) without directly supporting or developing any
tools for development with WebObjects.
Or, they could be so nice to implement the tools in Swing,
considering that they are depreciating them due to dropping the
Java / Cocoa bridge. It shouldn't even be that difficult to do.
Or, we could be stuck with half functional XCode plugins.
Or they just drop it, like you say, and we have to start using
third party solutions. But that would be a bit idiotic of Apple to
do, in my eyes.
Or they could OpenStep-ize WebObjects... and, once again after all
this time, together with Sun.
Of all possible outcomes I can think of from the 'expected official
communication', that would be the one that I would prefer: WO gets
integrated in Java EE5 as a reference implementation.
It's good for the Eclipse masses, as they would get educated in a
superior solution.
It's good for Apple: when Java grows, WO would be made to grow with
it at no significant cost.
It is good for me: suddenly I would have an excellent c.v.
