Direct to WebServices Reading?

Does anyone know of decent text for learning Direct 2 WebObjects in WO? I have asked a few different ways for the full procedure to get a fetch spec available in WebServices Assistant with no answer and I have checked these readings:

My .NET "friends" are making light of this and it is getting extremely frustrating.
