WebObjects licensing still unclear / XCode 2.1 no longer available ?

  • Subject: WebObjects licensing still unclear / XCode 2.1 no longer available ?

Hello,

Since I posted the link to the the workaround / WO licensing, I got
around a dozen (!) e-mails from people asking me (and no, I don't work
at Apple, I simply participated int the
discussion...) about the topic.

I have two unresolved questions / proposals about the topic to the
Apple people reading the
list:

First, XCode 2._1_ doesn't seem to be available any longer from
connect.apple.com
so people can't download they license key..,at least I and others
couldn't find it any longer.

So the proposed workaround

http://lists.apple.com/archives/webobjects-dev/2005/Dec/msg00193.html
http://lists.apple.com/archives/webobjects-dev/2005/Dec/msg00191.html

doesn't seem to work for new developers because step 1 doesn't work
any longer (?)

Cliff, or somebody else from Apple, is there still a XCode 2.1 file or
-if not- is there an update to the workaround ?

Thank you.

More generally, because of the amount of mails I got, I assume the issue isn't
even clear for OS X for new developers or people who don't read this
mailing list
every day. I guess it's mainly because of this page:

http://developer.apple.com/tools/webobjects/index.html

The first thing people see on that page is a link to the Distribution
Agreement License
which is no longer valid for WO 5.3.x

A short page update or FAQ for WO 5.3.1 would really help.

It would help make the mailing list clearer and one could offer "new"
people a simple link.
Just my opinion. I think Denis proposed the same a few days ago.

Is this possible ?

Marc
