thanks for taking the time to spell this out for me. It pretty much confirms my experience. I've gone back to using the real EOModeler to generate SQL though I hadn't thought of changing the File Types preference. I do like the schema diagram drawing feature in the embedded EModeler.

Yes I also like that feature very much, and this plug-in seems to work quite nicely for Core Data. I am looking forward to the completion of this tool.

Another thing I found very useful, when using this tool for Core Data, is it's ability to copy an entire diagram from one model file to another. I was able to select all the entities in the diagram view and option-drag them to an empty mode file and it recreated all the entities with proper relationships and properties. EOModeler can't do that. Unfortunately I don't believe the new EOModel plug-in will do this properly either....yet <fingers crossed>.

Now I'm trying to generate some SQL to add the modelled entities to the database. I cannot for the life of me figure of what I have to do to enable the 'Design / EO Model / Generate SQL Schemas' menu item.

I'm pretty sure that they have completely disabled the feature in Xcode 2.2.1. I think pretty much everyone who has tried using this tool would agree that it is far from ready to use at all.

I would highly recommend sticking with the older EOModeler. That is if you want a modeling tool that actually works. :-)

I just go into the "File Types" Xcode preferences and tell Xcode to use EOModeler instead of the EOModel plug-in.

I hope they fix the plug-in in the next version of Xcode and make it feature complete (compared to EOModeler), but it just isn't there yet.

Also, you may notice that there seems to be no box for entering the field width for string attributes using the plug-in.

I knew there were some problems when XCode 2.1 (or 2.0) came out, but it's now eight months since we saw this at WWDC and I really thought they might have made it work by now. It's tragic when the shipping version of Xcode/WebObjects is so clearly broken and stays that way for so long.
