newbie help

  • Subject: newbie help

I am finally beginning to understand a little with
webobjects. However, I don't get this..

I have a couple books and in the beginngin steps
creating components and creating instance variables
there appears to be a change from what the books say.

While adding a key to WO builder, it says that the
variable will be defined as:
protected string <stringname>;

however they come in as:
public string <stringname>;

I don't know enough java to understand the difference
and why there was a change from the version the books
talk about and the 5.3 that I downloaded.

Can someone help me understand what is going on here.

Ted
