The WO 5.2.4 retail price is higher than that of a Mac mini
(assuming you have a monitor and USB keyboard and mouse available) on
which you could run the free WO 5.3.
The Apple store lists the system requirements for WO windows dev tools
as Windows 2000 only. So my question is does the dev tools work ok on
WinXP?
I have no experience running WO under WinXP, but apparently others
have done so. Not sure what problems they might have had, but the
Windows versions of the tools you'll need to build a D2W app are more
buggy than those under Mac OS X. This should be sufficient for a
proof of concept, but I wouldn't want to run this unsupported
configuration in a production environment.
Also, we're mostly a Sybase shop, but there is one major customer who
insists on DB2. Does anyone have experience and/or wisdom on using WO
with DB2 on the backend?
There are JDBC drivers for DB2. One of those should provide the
basic capabilities needed by WO. But a DB2 WO plugin would be nice
to provide additional DB2-specific capabilities. I don't know
whether such a beast exists, but it is possible to write one.
