Actually, that sounds to be exactly what I need. I know Joe mentioned TLS but I didn't see any mention of a secure connection in EOModeler so I couldn't tell if he was referring to abilities that may or may not still be available. I had also heard that EOModeler itself was extensible so I was wondering if that was a possible route. The goal is definitely a secure connection between the app and the LDAP server and I would certainly appreciate any code you have to help with that.

OK, now where is that coffee...

Just did the mocha frap myself.

I'm not entirely sure what you need. But anyway... I have a subclass of the JNDIAdaptorPlugin (think that is the name off the top of my head) that uses TLS to encrypt all communication between the app and the LDAP server. It still uses simple authentication, but the authentication happens over an encrypted channel. I can send you the code if you want, it is open source.

Or, if this does not meet your needs, it will probably serve as a good starting point for whatever it is that you do need.

Thanks Joe. That's a bummer. It seems like a pretty glaring omission that any model you create is not really able to make a secure connection to your JNDI data source. Does anyone else know of any other options that might be possible for this?

I believe that best that was ever possible was to get TLS support for
simple binds, ie encrypted connections for clear-text binds.

I've managed to successfully generate a basic model of our OD Master.
I used "Simple" authentication to connect to OD and modeling
everything I wanted went fine. Here's the next barrier I'm going to
hit - At UCLA we have a new security policy that must be adhered to.
The "Simple" authentication method between my model and our OD Master
is not going to cut the mustard. So, being a relative newcomer to
EOModeler I have some questions:

Is there a way to add other authentication options for EOModeler/
JNDI? Can I put some kind of jar file in /Library/Java/ Extensions or
some such to gain another method? This is important because, like a
previous poster, I'd really like to engineer an app that can securely
connect to our OD Master and actually write changes to LDAP. We can
also isolate the conversation between these boxes on the network but
I'd prefer to try the software route first.
