We have a lot of Window developers. I have tried to find out more information on how the can develop on their Window boxes but have failed to see how this can be done. WOBuilder and EOModeler are available on Windows? Am I misguided or missing something?

WO development and deployment under Windows was supported through WO 5.2.4. Starting with WO 5.3, development and deployment are supported only under Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server, respectively. However, WO being Java, one could still muddle along under Windows but without the benefit of EOModeler, WebObjects Builder, and Xcode. Eclipse could be used as the IDE, but without EOModeler and WebObjects Builder, maintaining eomodels and component templates would be an unpleasant chore, IMHO.

The Windows WO development environment ran inside a Unix cocoon embedded in Windows. This was the result of NeXT Computer, the developer of WebObjects, porting its OPENSTEP development environment to Windows NT. So your Windows developers might not have found the WO development environment to be very familiar, i.e., very Windows- like. Since they would have had to adapt to this foreign development environment anyway, it would probably have been a better experience overall to just get them some Macs for their WO development. Macs now play very well in a Windows environment, so this isn't such a stretch. But of course, you might not want to spoil them :-)

Aloha,
Art
