I've used EOF. I've used Hibernatre. I've used Cayenne.

You can't use EOF. Hibernate has it's fans. Not me. Cayenne is considerably closer to EOF than Hibernate and you will pick it up and run with it really fast. Hibernate is akin to a poor EOAccess layer. Cayenne gives you some EOControl, and some interesting additions besides.

For a simple web framework that plays nice with Cayenne, have a look at Click (if you need to do web app stuff) - http://click.sf.net/

Oh, and good luck.

Y'all seem to be under the impression that I am rewriting the entire
system and can do whatever I feel like.  I have a Java/Tomcat
application that I am slowly migrating from contractor-induced insanity
(no offense to the fine contractors on this list) to something sensible.
