Wait a minute! Did the working service return the "This is a Direct to
Web Services application..." message, when you are using Safari?

I don't think it is a browser issue because the Web service itself isn't
responding to the client app and another service I have on that server gives
the expected result in Safari. I am using the standard Apache etc
installation in OSX Server 10.4.8.
At your suggestion I have tried connecting using Firefox and it just returns
a blank page, no error messages. The working service returns the expected
"This is a Direct to Web Services application..." message.
