This sounds off-topic for WebObjects, so I'll advise that you work
toward solution elsewhere, but...

EOModeler's reported error is more generic than DBVisualizer's,
here, and likely means the same thing.

DBVisualizer is a good test tool, and should bring a successful
connection if the components and JDBC URL are correct.

It sounds like the latest JDBC driver was not installed correctly.

Note that the .jar file(s), or symbolic/hard links to them (not
Finder Aliases), should be in /Library/Java/Extensions for the
most predictable and reliable results.
