Hi James,
   If my memory is still working, this means that the VM doen't find the framework appserver, check the reference in you editor (in Xcode is Frameworks, in eclipse is project -> properties -> Java Build Path -> Libraries) is you've added WOFrameworks: 
- JavaWebObjects
- JavaFoundation
- JavaXML
- JavaWOExtensions
- JavaEOAccess
- JavaEOControl
- JavaJDBCAdaptor (if you use JDBC)

check this, if these frameworks are correctly setted, check for your WO version installed of your pc, maybe you don't have installed it correctly, but the compiler thinks defferent (this won't be the first time, if you use Eclipse...)
