James,

Others are giving good technical advice, so I'll focus on another issue.

Start tracking your time and costs carefully. Keep a clear record of what you are required to do to get yourself back in a position similar to your business position before the theft. As soon as you've got a few minutes to calm down (and don't wait much longer) think back on everything you've done to recover since the theft and document that as well. The longer you wait, the less you will remember.

Whether you wish to sue this facility now or not, you may decide to do so in the future (if not only for insurance purposes) and the closer you've tracked the actual costs of this theft to you, the more likely you are to collect what it really costs (certainly much more than the costs of the servers).

Please accept this as business advice, not legal advice, since it would be illegal for me to offer the latter. In that regard, I would also suggest hooking up with an attorney as soon as reasonable just to determine what recourse you have in your state and what it would cost you to pursue the matter.

A real bummer and I'm sure I speak for all of us on the list when I say that our hearts go out to you.

Regards,
Jerry

Hello -

I just recently had ALL my servers stolen from a Colocation facility. As the servers
were backing up to each other with even multiple drives I guess I became complacent.
I never thought someone would break into a colo and still ALL my servers. It is a disaster
that will affect my livelihood.

Anyway, I bought a new MacPro and put in Tiger Server. Spent all weekend trying to
cobble all frameworks, settings, accounts, databases, etc..

Now I am trying to launch my first WebOBjects app, and quite frankly I can't think anymore
and all my references are gone too.

When I try to start my app I get this in the log file and I don't remember why.

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/webobjects/appserver/WOApplication

Thank you,
James Cicenia
