Wow - that was a fast bailout. Look, you can use WO in a whole number of ways. Some people might recommend drinking heavily at the kool-aid fountain, but it's completely possible to just sample a little at a time. It's just another java toolkit.

Try using WO just for the UI at first (html generation, form handling, page navigation, ...). If you're familiar with other java tools for, say, database operations (e.g. spring jdbc, hibernate, ...), you can use them. You're less likely to face the frustration of learning 5 new api's at once and more likely to avoid some of the issues that are facing WO with this particular release (the deprecation of the EOF tools).

Happy Festivus! (Let the airing of grievences begin!)

Hi and welcome,

yes, WebObjects works with Leopard, but WO 5.4 has some bugs. I
strongly suggest that you wait for WO 5.4.1 or, if you have access to
a Tiger machine, that you install WO 5.3 if you can't wait.

As for getting started, check out:

Hello all,

First, Happy Festivus.

Second, I have made the twenty year cut with PC/Windows and gone
full iMac.

Third, I have done a fair amount of web development with Adobe/
Macromedia software.

Fourth, I have now moved to WebObjects.

The questions:

First, does WebObjects work with Leopard.

Second, any tutorial or book recommendation would be most appreciated.

Cheerio, Doug
