Hi Ray,

I just wanted to say hello and let people know of something I just

Thanks for pointing out the blog.
By the way, for those who do not know, I have been in the
WebObjects group at Apple for the last ... well, it has been a
while. I started at Apple in 1990 and have been in WO since late
1997. But I have left Apple and now will be doing other things,
many of which will involve WebObjects.
Good to hear.
I have not spoken up in the lists as I have wanted to. There has
been a reason for this. I have not been happy about what the
management at Apple has been doing to WebObjects for quite a while.
Eventually, the feeling from my management became mutual. I knew
that if I started to post, that would be the start of a road that
would end up with me saying something, as "email@hidden", that
I would regret. But now, I can speak as myself. And, hopefully, not
say something I regret.
But I am going to try to speak as myself, not as just an "ex-Apple"
person.
Basically, looking at the last several years of WebObjects as a
product, I have only one thing to say right now. I am sorry.
Really. I feel as though I cannot apologize enough.
Having seen all the yearly complaints (on this list) about the state
of WebObjects, caring greatly for WO and yet having your hands tied
on the inside and not being able to speak up ... that's got to have
been quite a burden.
Let me say: thanks for doing what you could - and for still wanting
to continue with the technology despite of it :-)
A word of warning. I wouldn't be surprised when more people cotton
onto the fact that your "free" that the questions start flying in
"Ray... what do you reckon about the future of WO?" ;-)
I wish I could say more, but I will have to process some of this
and figure things out.
Take your time. That's the wise thing to do...
with regards,
