Thanks Chuck!   I'm now able to connect to the Informix database.  For those
interested your connection string from the client should look like this:

jdbc:informix-sqli://ip:port/dbname:informixserver=servername;user=username;
password=password

The driver name currently is: com.informix.jdbc.IfxDriver
