Hello;

To have full access to the model (to the database) trough a service...
I am thinking in an intranet, where security is not issue... well it
is, but it can be handled.
This may be the simplest way to connect a desktop app to a database...
I know, it has its problems (e.g., most of the logic goes on the
client) and many EOF functionality is lost with this approach... but it
is just a first try...

I think the general approach is to conceptually keep the EC on the application server side and then use the web services in order to manipulate the objects in the EC. This means that there is no need for an EC on the client-end much in the same way as there is no need for an EC in an HTML page. You are just sending piece-wise updates to the application server in order to manipulate the EO graph.

The fact you can't work with temporary GID's with WO's integration around AXIS is IMHO a big stumbling block here, but there are other options.

cheers.
