Wondering if anyone out there remembers this stuff -- circa 1999
Vital Signs:
WO 4.5
NT
ProjectBuilder (YellowBox)
Java bridged to Obj-C
Details:
I am just starting work for a client who still has a few 4.5 WO
apps. I have been spinning my wheels for a week trying to get the
source to compile. I have 2 questions:
1) How does WO 4.5 on NT define environment variables that don't
appear in the standard NT env-var control panel? I can echo
$NEXT_ROOT in a shell, but there is no def in the panel?? How can I
inspect these hidden variables? (sorry that was 2 in 1)
2) It appears an environment variable with a syntax error is aborting
the compile very early. My recall is sketchy on this, but it happens
when make calls javaconfig (something like ($shell javaconfig
DefaultClasspath)). javaconfig is an executable shipped with WO 4.5
and somehow assembles a series of paths derived from environment
variables. The first one in the list is C:\\WebObjects\Library,
which I am suspicious of the double '\\', but I can't figure out how
the command is putting that together. I don't see a definition in
the standard NT env-var def panel that looks like that.
Sorry I can't provide more error message details at this point since
this happens on a host in a highly secured office, where emailing
this list could have me promptly dismissed. If it helps I can
refresh my memory and provide more details on this tomorrow.
Meanwhile, if anyone has a clue......
