Well, just so you know Tom, I really like the Wrox book. I think it
stands between all the other books and Practical WebObjects. I have
read that Wrox book from cover to cover about 10 times. I don't
think there is another IT book that I can say that about.
For someone just getting to grips with WO, then I think that the
Visual QuickStart is the most basic. Then the Ruzak book, which has
some more advanced stuff in it but since it is all for the old
Project Builder IDE on Windows, that might make it a bit confusing.
I'd then move on to the Wrox book, followed by PWO.
To some extent it depends on one's existing level of programming
knowledge. Very experienced developers would find the VQS book
patronising.
If any of these books can be picked up for a few dollars, I'd say
they are worth having anyway. You never know when a particular
screenshot or piece of code makes the penny drop. I got the Ruzak
book for about $3, and I'm very glad I bought it.

I'm one of the authors of Professional WebObjects with Java from
Wrox. The book gets some bad reviews -- hey, basically two of us
ended up writing 75% of it, and there was no single editor. And we
did it in about six weeks! the Wrox approach is good in that they
chunk out books quickly, but the "group authoring" model is flawed
when there's no single editorial leadership.
I have some of the source code for the examples -- I can share it one-
on-one if someone writes me to ask about it.
