Extending WOPopUp to use optgroup tags

  • Subject: Extending WOPopUp to use optgroup tags

Hi All -

I am trying to extend a wopopup to display option
groups.
I would like to have the same functionality as
wopopup, just the extra ability to display option
groups.
Since this is html4 and xhtml compliant, I figured I
could use the existing code in wopopup and override
the appendtoresponse with code to tag optgroups.

I have taken the appendtoresponse in wopopup (from
wotonomy) and modified it to use the optgroup tags in
my subclass.

The problem is I am getting lots of errors when
referencing methods in the super classes.

I have looked at project wonder for similar extends of
woinput (erxwopasswordfield) and they are not
overriding any methods in the super class.

Is it possible to extend WOPopUp this way?
Are there any issues with extending from
com.webobjects.appserver._private package?
Is there a better way to create a select with option
groups?

Thanks for the help.

Carter
