Hi,

I was using the following this morning:

ec.faultForGlobalID(memberGID, ec);

and felt a bit funny about putting ec in as an argument in a method on ec.

I was wondering if anyone might know why ec is required as an argument here (or in what capacity it is used). My only guess is that it is because you might want to get an EO from another EC (a temporary global id?).

The documentation seems pretty clear on this:

... the method propagates the message up the object store hierarchy, through the parent object store ... In a nested editing context configuration, where a parent EOEditingContext is sent faultForGlobalID on behalf of a child EOEditingContext and globalID identifies a newly inserted object in the parent, the parent registers a copy of the object in the child.

So at some point you have parentEC.faultForGlobalID(memberGID, childEC);
