I apologise for that long subject, not sure how I managed that.
This wiki page is very helpful, thank you: wotaskd now runs for me on
boot for me using launchd. We run Max OS X Client and up to now have
always used StartupItems, so I was not aware of the launchd method.
Now configuring a new clean Leopard MacPro box for WO5.4. Thanks again.

StartupItems does not have a WebObjects directory within it for
starting wotaskd. I couldn't see mention of this in the release
notes.
