I am, and I did, with the result below. I cannot talk about the lack
of documentation because I'm under NDA.

Although the public update that was mentioned at WWDC never did
materialize...

The public Apple site says that WebObjects 5.4 is part of Leopard
Server, along with Apache 2.
But as a Select Developer who is geographically challenged and
unable to attend WWDC, I am somewhat bemused by the lack of
information available to non-WWDC attendees.
Still, Leopard is announced, and I'm hoping someone will give me
some hints on how to get my WO application going on Leopard Server
and Apache 2. I get a "no such method" error for createRequest.
This application is built in Eclipse/WOLips and runs fine on 10.4
Server and Java 1.5.

Not much I would think. Eclipse with WOLips is the preferred
development platform. All the Apple tools for WO development are
deprecated.
There is no mentioned about WebObjects 5.4 to be included in
Xcode/Leopard from website. Is this usual
Completely normal. It's not one of their big ticket items for
public consumption, whether for good or bad.
and what will be the good way to obtain WO (could it be version
5.4 or remained as 5.3.x)? Any leading info please share and
hope not held by NDA...
As usual you'll install it along with the development tools
(being sure to Customize what's installed to tick the appropriate
box).
with regards,
