Hello Nolan;
I'm under the impression that there are few, if any, WO classes that
can't be mapped to one or more Java
A full run-down on WebObjects framework set is a bit much for a quick
mailing list post, but I consider for my work that the WebObjects
architecture, on balance, to be superior to competitors. Yes some
classes such as NSDictionary nowadays correlate to classes like
java.util.Map, but to assess WebObjects in this way is missing the
point because it is material such as the object-persistence
frameworks, key-value-coding, the component system and the request-
response lifecycle design which really make WebObjects special and
these are higher-level aspects to the system.
have a rich front end written in Cocoa as well as a web-based front
end.
I have developed a framework called "LEWOStuff" that has a Cocoa, Java
as well as WebObjects-native element. Part of the functionality of
these libraries and frameworks is to facilitate writing Cocoa or java
client software that can smoothly integrate with a WebObjects
application. I have one or two systems deployed into production with
this system and it works very well. Drop me an email if you are
interested in investigating this.
Regards;
