This is a case of seemingly bad news being actually _very_ good news.
Apple has depreciated the Apple-supplied tools because the Open Source
tools available are much, much, much better than what they supplied.
There is also the added benefit that the new tools are based on
Eclipse instead of Xcode. While Xcode is great for doing Obj-C
development, it was always a poor Java development platform.
Not having to develop and maintain the toolset for WebObjects has
allowed them to spend much more time refining and improving the actual
WebObjects Frameworks that do all the magic.
It is a great time to be a WebObjects developer, the tools improve
almost daily, and the frameworks are getting more attention now than
they have in years!
