No matter how many times I reset that switch on the list manager.
Is there something else I am missing? I use google for my mail server
and Apple Mail as my client.

You mean: why can't I see my own post?
Well, If i remember correclty a mailing list work exaclty like this: Everyone except you recive the messages you sent.
I use Gmail an I can see only my answer, because gmail collect the discussions (answers at emails)
