Now if someone will just port Java to the iPhone/iPod... or better yet, if there were something, let's call it a "bridge", between Cocoa Touch and Java...

:P

Hi all,

Hey, I've added my Java Client Veogen templates to the Wiki, so it's getting easier and easier to build a WO JC app again.

Flor, Paolo, if you can send me any EOGenerator templates you might have that are custom to your new JC frameworks, I'll try to convert them and post them also. Maybe if we're lucky, there'll be more JC templates available than Web ones. Bwa ha ha ha ha!

Oh, the irony!

Next hurdle for me is to make a JC WebStart project template for WOLips, and get the Ant build.xml file updated to split out the common/client-side classes automatically into the WebServerResources directory. As you may have seen, I've gotten lots of feature requests into JIRA to make JC development a first- class WOLips citizen.

Does anyone have specific requests or needs relating to WO Java Client development?

My goal is that the next edition of Practical WebObjects will have a nice Java Client section in there. :D Right, Chuck?!

Yes, unless you or Flor or Paolo write Practical JavaClient first! I can't consider it a "Best Ignored" technology any more, thanks entirely to the community's work on keeping it very much alive.

On a side note, Even though it is officially deprecated (for now ;-), I've found that pure D2JC applications _do_ work with WO 5.4.1 and Leopard. By "pure" I mean absolutely no NIB files. Just classes, an .eomodel and user.d2wmodel files. It's still deprecated and I've only tested one application, but it is a relatively complex one with lots of entities and rules.

PS, if you are receiving this directly its because I have noticed that you previously have posted comments about doing WO Java Client development to the Web Objects lists and I thought you might be interested in its resurgence.
