What happens if you create a new workspace? It could be that your
workspace has gotten corrupted. I have had that happen, though not
recently.
It does sound like a time out though. Are you connected to your usual
network and the internet? Have you installed any other plugins?

ok... So I added another gig of ram (2 gigs total) and
launch eclipse.... It stalls just before completing
the opening of the workspace. I checked the activity
monitor and it reports that eclipse is not responding.
then after 2-3 full minutes it clears and continues
opening the workspace and I can work...
This is a new install of eclipse on os x 10.5.2.
any ideas... I don't want to reinstall the system but
if that is next, so be it.

A gig of RAM on a MBP is definitely a bottleneck for
*everything*.
When I first started working on an intel it came
with the (rather
silly) factory default of 1 gig. That really does
not work.
BUT, I can not see this causing a 5 minute delay in
Eclipse startup,
nor a 3-5 minute compilation (which is not a memory
intensive
process), unless you have tens of projects open at
the same time, and
they all recompile at startup (I think there is a
preference for
that). So, I think you need to start reinstalling
things. Or maybe
profiling Eclipse to see what it is waiting for...
Best of luck,
Flor
Not implying that you should not get more RAM, that
really will make
it run a lot better.

this is a stand alone mac book pro logged into a

add
more ram... I will try that and see what happens.

are you on a network login ?
if so try moving your workspace to the local
drive,
rather than a
network based location.

okay. I thought I would wait and download the

loading
and then the status bar just stalls.... if I run
the
activity monitor it says that eclipse is using

of

however, if I wait (and I am talking about 5

Eclipse will clear and I can go to work... then
if I

the spinning pizza for 3-5 minutes and it says
in
the
corner "compiling workspace".
this is a mac pro (two intel processors) with a
gig of

newest eclipse and wolips...
is there anything I am doing wrong?
