Obtain primary key early?

All,

I have a situation where I want to grab a number from the Oracle sequence early so that I can assign it to the EO myself. The main motivation for doing this is so that I can set the value into a temporary table during commit that will be used in delete triggers to update an audit table.

I have a few ideas, but does anyone have suggestions for the best way to accomplish this?
