Is newsDisplayGroup being initialized using a WOO file entry by any chance? If so you need to either change the newsDisplayGroup declaration back to a WODisplayGroup or manually edit your woo file in the source view to use an ERXDisplayGroup.

This isn't ideal particularly if you want to use generics, but I haven't had a chance to look into solving this any other way just yet.
