Check ERCDisplayHelpText and it's usage in the BugTracker example. You might use that (if you can use ERCoreBusinessLogic) or implement something similar.

I have a help text system that fetches a help text from the database based on the current page configuration name. It's a pretty generic component that takes all CSS classes and optional other keys to look for from the rule system.
