They are actually pretty good at adding version info everywhere -
you just
need to know where to look for it. Check the META-INF/MANIFEST.MF -
sucks
that you have to break open the jar to look at it.
version numbers in class file names is just the convention everywhere
else on earth except the country of Oracle ... like you said, that's
great that they put a version number SOMEWHERE, but really, how often
are you identifying jar files using the jar API's? pretty good odds
the more likely case is that you're staring at a jar file in a
Libraries folder and you're wondering why oracle isn't working ...
