Greetings Chuck, Lachlan, Mike and the gang,
There is a fourth topic that I am not sure would be a good topic or
not. That would be this notion of embedded data stores like Apache
Derby combined with application, service, and framework development/
deployment. Whether the context is in deploying to classic WO Task
Managers, Application Server Containers like Tomcat, or Google's
Application Server; I think the embedded data store WO powered app
would be a wonderful addition to the already proposed test, EOF
goodies, and WO Component leveraged through and through.
I believe many out there have been there done the tasks with Derby,
constructing WO Frameworks, and adjusting WO for container engines.
It is a topic I would like to master and use in building the rest of
my own dissertation. A little training on these tasks could go a
long way.
Thank you,
Dan

I am considering a few topics (thinking to only do one) for
WOWODC'09 in San Fran this June. I'd appreciate some feedback on
which ones are of the widest interest.
1. Testing
Someone else is going to be doing a session on testing covering
TDD, Mocks, Example Objects, Acceptance/Integration/Unit tests,
Demo of building an application with TDD. Is there enough
interest in a second session? I'd plan to cover:
- using TestNG for unit testing (focus on the mechanics of using
TestNG vs JUnit)
- functional testing with Selenium without using ERSelenium
(focusing more
on the functional side than on the developer driven side, how to
work with
the business folks to create functional and acceptance tests)
- writing and using extensions to SeleniumIDE and SeleniumCore
- generating and interpreting test coverage reports from EMMA
- using JMeter to load test WO apps
Most definitely testing - esp Mocks etc with EOF.
+1
